PHULBANI (ODISHA): Anti-socials with the “active” support of politicians and Maoists are allegedly encouraging ganja cultivation in the communally sensitive Kandhamal district. According to sources, ganja cultivation is being undertaken in hundreds of acres of land in the inaccessible parts of the district.

Anti-socials who receive huge funds from money-lenders persuade the local people to cultivate ganja it gives hefty returns on their investment. “As against Rs  10,000 invested in an acre of land, the mafias get Rs 1 lakh. The profit is shared among all the patrons. The immediate and easy return on the investment is the major allurement for the ganja cultivators,” says Ashok Mohanty, a social worker who is engaged in anti-ganja cultivation drive in the district.

What is quite shocking that during raids the actual the daily-wage earners, who are engaged in preparing and tilling the land for ganja crop, are arrested. The real investors escape the police dragnet. Sources added that of the most of the 58 persons arrested in 2015 for allegedly cultivating ganja in the district are innocent tribals who still do not know that growing the crop is banned and an offence as per law of the land.

As many as 30 cases of ganja cultivation were registered in 2015. Ganja cultivated in Kandhamal district is great demand in Bhubaneswar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Bolangir towns.

ఇవి మాత్రమే కాదు.. రష్యన్ ఆయుధాల ఎగుమతి సంస్థ మెసర్స్ ‘రోసోబోరోన్ ఎక్స్‌పోర్ట్’ 2013లో సరఫరా చేసిన దాదాపు 4వేల కిలోల ఆర్డీఎక్స్ కూడా జబల్‌పూర్ నగరం కిందే నిక్షిప్తమై ఉంది. నాణ్యతా పరీక్షలలో ఇది విఫలం కావడంతో దాన్ని ఉపయోగించలేదని, 2014లో పాత ఆర్డీఎక్స్‌ను తీసుకోకుండానే కొత్త స్టాకును రష్యన్ సంస్థ సరఫరా చేసిందని ఓఎఫ్‌కే ఉద్యోగి ఒకరు తెలిపారు. ఇలా పలు రకాల పేలుడు సామగ్రి మొత్తం ఆ నగరంలో భూమి కింద ఉంది. ఇవ‌న్నీ ఒకేసారి పేలితే.. భూకంపం సంభవించి, న‌గ‌రం నామ‌రూపాలు లేకుండా అయిపోతుంద‌ట‌. కొన్నేళ్లుగా ఇక్కడ వరుసపెట్టి పేలుళ్లు జరుగుతూనే ఉన్నాయి. తాజాగా శుక్రవారం రాత్రి కూడా చిన్నపాటి పేలుడు సంభవించి, ఇద్దరు ఉద్యోగులు గాయపడ్డారు. తాము ఈ అంశాన్ని పలుసందర్భాల్లో అధికారుల దృష్టికి తెచ్చామని, కానీ ఎవరూ పట్టించుకోవడం లేదని స్థానికులు వాపోతున్నారు.

No winner of record $900 million Powerball jackpot, next draw on Wednesday

Lottery officials said there was no winner of Saturday's record $900 million jackpot in the multi-state Powerball lottery.

Millions of Americans anxiously checked their tickets for the winning combination of six numbers - 32, 16, 19, 57, 34 with a Powerball number of 13.

"No Powerball jackpot winner," the Texas Lottery announced on Twitter hours after the numbers were drawn. The next drawing, expected to establish another record payout of a reported $1.3 billion, was slated for Wednesday.

The grand prize for Powerball, played in 44 states, Washington, and two U.S. territories, has climbed steadily for weeks after repeated drawings produced no big winners. This week ticket purchases surged along with the size of the pot.

The grand prize in Saturday's drawing was worth $558 million for a winner choosing an immediate cash payout instead of annual payments over 29 years, according to lottery officials in California, one of the participating states.

The prize, which rises with every drawing in which the winning series of six numbers is not won, ranked as the largest jackpot for any lottery in North American history. With almost unimaginable riches at stake, many Americans who normally shun lotteries joined the long lines of people buying tickets at retail stores across the country.

Dony Elias, 26, an attendant at Stardust Liquor in Los Angeles, said 300 customers picked up tickets for Powerball last night at his store. Elias admitted to buying a ticket for himself, something he said he had never done before.

And like many other players, he has already given some thought to what he would do with the cash.

"I would take a trip to the moon," he said.

California normally sees Powerball sales of $1 million a day, but on Saturday morning sales were $2.8 million an hour, said California Lottery spokesman Mike Bond.

Excitement swirled among ticket buyers despite what some statisticians call mind-boggling odds for the Powerball game - one in 292 million.

Jeffrey Miecznikowski, associate professor of biostatistics at the University at Buffalo, said in an email an American is roughly 25 times more likely to become the next president of the United States than to win at Powerball.

Or to put it another way, the odds are equivalent to flipping a coin 28 times and getting heads every time, he said.

"It doesn't sound so bad ... but you would be at it for an eternity," Miecznikowski said.

November was the last time a jackpot winner emerged from Powerball, which is run by the Multi-State Lottery Association.

In the drawing on Wednesday night, the jackpot stood at $500 million and with no winner drawn, the stage was set for the latest drawing just before 11 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.

If no one has the winning numbers again, the jackpot will likely rise to an estimated $1.3 billion by Wednesday, the next scheduled drawing, Bond said.

The previous record North American jackpot payout for any lottery game was in March 2012, when $656 million was won in the multi-state Mega Millions draw.

టెక్సాస్: తరగతి గదిలో పిల్లలకు పాఠాలు చెప్పాల్సిన టీచరే... పార్కులో, స్టాఫ్ రూమ్‌లో వారికి సెక్స్ పాఠాలు నేర్పింది. 17 ఏళ్ల వయసున్న ఇద్దరు విద్యార్ధులను రెచ్చగొట్టి తన కోరికను తీర్చుకుంది. అందులో ఒక విద్యార్ధి తన తల్లిదండ్రులకు విషయం చెప్పడంతో అసలు విషయం బయటకు వచ్చింది. టెక్సాస్‌లోని వెస్ట్ లేక్ హైస్కూల్‌లో టీచర్‌గా పనిచేస్తున్న హైలీ వే (28) అదే పాఠశాలకు చెందిన ఇద్దరు విద్యార్ధులను లోబరుచుకుని, వారితో ఇప్పటికే 10 సార్లు సెక్స్ చేసింది. విద్యార్ధి తండ్రి ద్వారా విషయం బయటకు రావడంతో పోలీసులు రంగంలోకి దిగి ఆ ఇద్దరు విద్యార్ధులను ప్రశ్నించారు. అందులో ఒక విద్యార్ధి టీచర్‌తో కలిసి ఇతర పిల్లలతో ఆఫ్రికా ఖండానికి ఎక్స్‌కర్షన్‌కు వెళ్లాడు. అక్కడ వారిద్దరికీ పరిచయం ఏర్పడింది. దాంతో 'హైక్' ద్వారా అతడికి తన న్యూడ్ ఫోటోలు పంపించింది. ఒకరోజు తర్వాత ఆ బాలుడిని ఆమె తన రూమ్‌కు తీసుకువెళ్లి నగ్నంగా మార్చి ఓరల్ సెక్స్ చేసింది. అనంతరం వారిద్దరూ సెక్స్‌లో పాల్గొన్నారు. ఇలా ఎక్స్‌కర్షన్ అయ్యే లోపు ఆ విద్యార్ధితో పది సార్లు శృంగారంలో పాల్గొంది.



మరో విద్యార్ధి పోలీసులతో 'రోజూ స్కూలు అనంతరం తనతో పాటు నన్ను కామన్స్ ఫోర్డ్ పార్క్‌కు తీసుకెళ్లేది. అక్కడ ఎవరూ లేని స్థలానికి తీసుకువెళ్లి నాపై ముద్దుల వర్షం కురిపించేది. నాచేతులను ఆమె లోదుస్తుల్లో పెట్టి రుద్దమని చెప్పేది. అనంతరం అక్కడే మూడు సార్లు సెక్స్ చేసింది' అని చెప్పాడు. అంతేకాదు అదే విద్యార్ధితో మరోసారి స్కూల్ పార్కింగ్ ప్లేస్‌లో కారు వెనుక సీటులో సెక్స్ చేసింది. ఈ విషయాలన్నింటినీ సదరు ఆ విద్యార్ధి పోలీసుల సమక్షంలో చెప్పడంతో ఆమెపై ఫెలోనీ చార్జి కింద కేసులు నమోదు చేసి అరెస్ట్ చేశారు. జనవరి 6వ తేదీన ఆమెను కోర్టులో ప్రవేశపెట్టనున్నారు. టెక్సాస్ చట్టాల ప్రకారం 17 ఏళ్ల వయసులో సెక్స్‌లో పాల్గొనడం అక్కడ చట్టవిరుద్ధం. అంతేకాదు విద్యార్ధులతో టీచర్ సెక్స్ చేయడం అనేది చట్ట విరుద్ధం కూడా. ఇటీవల కాలంలో ఇలాంటి కేసులు టెక్సాస్‌లో ఎక్కువగా నమోదవుతున్నాయి.

Lord Shiva first messenger of Islam, Muslim cleric says

AYODHYA: A lesser known Muslim cleric and leader of Jamiat Ulema Hind, Mufti Mohammad Ilyas Qasmi, stirred up a controversy on Thursday when he referred to Lord Shiva as the first messenger of Islam. Qasmi, a senior leader of the Jamiat who has been propagating Hindu-Muslim unity in Ayodhya, said he backed the RSS view that "every Indian is a Hindu."

Qasmi elaborated that Muslims were also followers of Sanatan Dharma and "have no reservations in accepting that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were part of the series of a lakh and twenty four thousand prophets sent to Earth with a mission to establish humanity, true religion and God's rule in the world".

He said he thought there was nothing objectionable or wrong about referring to Indian Muslims as Hindus, since Muslims from India are called 'Hindi' in Arabian countries. "We Indian Muslims are followers of Islam. We believe in 'Allah', but we are, traditionally, 'Hindus'," he said.

Muslim leaders were quick to distance themselves from Qasmi's remarks. While Jamiat's president Maulana Arshad Madani was unavailable, its secretary, Hafiz Irfan, said: "What Qasmi has said are his personal views. There were, indeed, a series of one lakh twenty four thousand prophets sent by Allah to Earth. Lord Rama, Lord Krishna or Lord Shiva may be one of them, but none of this finds mention in the holy Quran. Only God is the creator, not his messengers."

Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, head cleric of the Aishbagh Eidgah in Lucknow, said Islam showed respect to all religions and religious figures. However, it did not suggest anywhere that Lord Shiva was a Prophet, he added.

Qasmi had arrived in Ayodhya to invite the local Sadhus and Mahants to Jamiat's national seminar on Hindu-Muslim unity, which will be held in Balrampur on February 27.

A snake was found under a table in the police station and they called a snake charmer for catching it . Passenger goes missing from Indigo flight at Patna

There was chaos at Patna airport today after a passenger who travelling from Goa to Lucknow in an Indigo flight 633 disappeared from the plane.

Mudit Sharma was travelling to Lucknow with his wife and four more members of his family when the plane landed in Patna. Sharma told his wife that he was going to the bathroom, and never returned. His absence was noticed only when the plane readied to fly to Lucknow. The flight was delayed for more than 20 minutes when the airport authorities could not find him. Sharma, reportedly was annoyed by one of his family members and deplaned in Patna itself. Neither Indigo, nor the ground officials were able to detect his exit. Airport Authority has taken up the matter with the two.

In his last phone message to his wife, Sharma said that he was in the toilet. The trouble began when he could not be reached on the phone and the toilet was found empty. The plane was grounded in Patna till the chaos subsided. It left for Lucknow with rest of the family members. Flight 633 was to fly from Goa to Lucknow, via Kolkata and Patna. The author of this article was also travelling in the same plane.

Four killed in Andhra Pradesh accident

Police said the driver apparently felt sleepy which lead to the accident.

Hyderabad, : At least four people were killed when a truck rammed into a roadside tea shop in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district on Saturday, police said. The accident occurred on Chennai-Kolkata national highway near Ganapavaram town in Guntur district, the police said. The truck was on its way from Ongole to Vijayawada city.
Police said the driver apparently felt sleepy which lead to the accident. A 70-year-old man running the tea stall, his wife and two customers died on the spot.
